Two weeks on Saturday the Premier League season kicks off for NUFC, with three Newcastle United defenders currently ruled out by injury.Since the turn of the year we have seen a goalkeeper and four defenders bought in, as well as striker Chris Wood and midfielder Bruno G.
Thankfully no first choice Newcastle United defenders are currently injured but always good to have options and hopefully this trio will be back soon. Meanwhile, Federico Fernandez has also been missing from the two squads for the friendlies so far, Eddie Howe now confirming that he has a ‘a minimal calf injury’ which is preventing him being able to train.stating ‘It’s tight but we’re taking it carefully to build him back up before he trains, he is one of the leaders of the group though, a very positive influence around the players so I’m delighted he’s here. We hope to get him back on the training pitch as soon as possible.
explaining his absence now as well: ‘He has got a groin problem that he had at the end of last season. It wasn’t fixed in the summer and so he is away having treatment but I think he should be back maybe around the Portugal trip, or maybe just after, to train.’
