A witness, Julissa Contreras, told NBCBayArea that she saw a man firing a gun with 'rapid firing.' 'I could see him shooting in just every direction. He wasn't aiming at anyone specifically ... He definitely was prepared for what he was doing.'
Eleven people were transported to two hospitals with gunshot wounds after the shooting at one of the largest food festivals in the United States, said Joy Alexiou, a spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Public Health System. Three had been treated and released late Sunday, and the rest were in fair to critical condition, she said.

Contreras described the man as in his 30s, wearing a cap, sports sunglasses and what appeared to military-style clothing.
