Thousands of runners launched from Long Street on Sunday for the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon
Along the course, 24"Marathon Mile Champions" who were all treated at Nationwide Children’s have a mile of the course, honoring their treatment at the hospital. Mile 11, along High Street in German Village, is the Angel Mile celebrating children who went Children’s Hospital who have passed away — their parents and family/friends line the course with posters celebrating their lives).
Sklaw, who ran a half marathon last year and committed to running a full marathon if Ethan were selected as a patient champion, said she was thankful for the care Ethan has received at Children's Hospital, and said funding research was essential. The route for the half marathon is 13.1 miles and covers the first half of the full marathon route into Bexley and back to High Street. After going through German Village, runners finished at North Bank.
"There's surgeries that happen at Children's Hospital that don't happen in other hospitals in the country. doesn't see it that way, but I say they saved him and I think that if I can do that for all the children that are in similar situations or need surgeries —why not?"the addition of 5K and 1-mile races Saturday
