Gabriel’s mother, Jassidy Sanchez, told KENS5 that she went into the teens’ room after their bodies were removed, describing the bloodied scene.Sanchez struggles to fathom why the couple were attacked so brutally, saying theft makes little sense as a motive.Sanchez said the last time she heard from Gabriel was just after midnight the night before when she received a text from him. When Sanchez went to check on them, she came upon the gruesome scene.
“When I drove up to the hotel, I saw a bunch of news reporters, and I knew something wasn’t right,” she said in a social media post. “Cops were driving up to the scene. I just remember asking a news reporter ‘what’s going on.’ He told me they found two bodies in a room.”
