Casey is registered blind, although she says her parents didn’t tell her until she was a teenager. “I guess they felt I didn’t need to have that stigma attached to me. And just to make sure I felt like every other kid, they sent me out to ride about town on a bicycle. Who does that?” At the risk of creating a ridiculous metaphor, I’ll tell you what I told a colleague about Casey when I hung up the phone:

Her job is to drive this initiative forward and clear the path for leadership.“While many businesses call themselves diverse, most overlook, ignore or delay taking action on inclusion,” she says. Employment numbers for people with disabilities are rising according to recent reports. Still, the numbers are unacceptably low.
