Blue Hills opened for safari tours and animal encounters at the end of 2020, but management says they didn't really get things going until early 2021. The otters quickly became one of the resort's most popular attractions. Otto and Sweet Pea are Asian small-clawed otters, the smallest of the 13 otter species. They weigh no more than eight to 10 pounds and measure up to two feet in length.The otters prefer to swim warm waters, so Blue Hills maintains temperatures between 85 and 90 degrees in its hot tub, depending on the day.
"They're warmer climate," Lightfoot said."They're also spoiled so they have to have that perfect temperature." Guests must be age 12 or older and all animal encounters are a private VIP experience, meaning appointments are required,"We only take your group around together, so you will not be mixed with other people and feel left out," Lightfoot said."Our priority is the safety and care of the animals."
