Northeast Ohioans are busy cleaning and repairing after severe storms slammed the area Wednesday night causing floods and multiple buildings to collapse.

Lakewood resident John Kucinski resorted to using garbage cans as shoes to go in his basement of his Clifton Blvd. home which had been flooded with nearly a foot of water during storms Aug. 23.CLEVELAND, Ohio – From Amherst to Willowick, many residents across Northeast Ohio are bailing out of their basements, cleaning trees off roofs and taking debris off cars after storms tore through the region Wednesday and caused extensive flooding and buildings to collapse.

Kucinski said this is the third time this summer his basement has flooded. He said he had to call off from work Thursday to take care of the storm damage. Kucinski, who is also a landlord, said the basement of his apartment complex also flooded. Kucinski said he has had to throw out numerous items from his home because of storm damage in the past. This time, he said, he plans to get a quote on the cost for repairs in hopes the city will cover it.

She went outside Thursday morning to get a better look at the damage but was told to move back by police after the ground started shaking. Foreman started the business more than 40 years ago in his garage and opened the North Olmsted location in 1995.
