This new Manhattan salon is a slice of Parisian heaven.
Since 1930, The Pierre, perched steps away from Central Park on Fifth Avenue, has distinguished itself as a lavish New York institution. But tapping into the hotel's opulent French heritage—it was created by Corsican-born restaurateur Charles Pierre Casalasco and the upper floors are said to have been inspired by the Royal Chapel at Versailles—is the recently opened and impossibly chic hair salon on its fourth floor, Suite Reyad.
With its whitewashed walls, herrington-bone wood floors, and a carved marble fireplace punctuating the main room, the-like space is just what French colorist Reyad Fritas had in mind when he left his longtime post at Fréderic Fekkai's flagship salon. "I wanted it to feel intimate like a modern Parisian apartment, so people could feel like they're at a home," he says.
