When placing a drive-thru order, how long is too long?
. And, according to the newest report from Oracle, customers are not happy about it.
As many as 20% of customers say they're annoyed after waiting two minutes to order in the drive-thru line. By the time that wait time ticks up to five minutes, 70% of customers are annoyed. Considering five minutes is barely longer than the amount of time it takes to get through many top radio jams, we'd say this statistic might reflect a bit of an impatient trend.
And no wonder the restaurants are currently having a hard time with the speed of service. Whether it be via the drive-thru or not, most of us have beenone way or another. In November and December, 75% of all restaurant visits were off-premise. Almost 50% of customers feel like the uptick in delivery and takeout orders has resulted in slower service when ordering in person. In that vein, the growing sentiment seems to be that
are taking precedence over dine-in customers—as many as 38% of customers believe that on-premise traffic is now less of a priority for restaurants.
