In 2021, the region saw several high-end retailers in the Bay Area subject to brazen smash-and-grab robberies in which several looters stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods.

San Francisco police are searching for a group of thieves who evaded capture after stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Gucci store in Union Square.

The police department could not confirm the amount of goods stolen from the location, but KGO reported four to six people stole more than $48,000 worth of handbags and other items from the Gucci store located at 240 Stockton St. A description of the robbers was not available, and no arrest have been made. Anyone with information was asked to contact the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with"SFPD."
