🟢 'There's so much brutality' ⬇️ Meet the Iranian woman who made brave protest at World Cup match

KHALIFA INTERNATIONAL STADIUM — She stood almost throughout, a black tear drawn onto her left eye in make up, brandishing the white shirt of Iran withplayed out to excited squeals around her, Yasi – a young woman who had travelled from the US to make her stand – was making a powerful point. A lone voice but far from alone in a sea of white, green and red where many protested at the horrific events unfolding at home.

Outside, fans had chanted “Say her name, Mahsa Amini” in reference to the 22-year-old who died in custody after being arrested by Iran’s morality police for allegedly not adhering to the country’s strict dress code for women. That sparked protests throughout the country and more violent deaths on the streets. Those bled into Monday’s game, where fans unfurled flags with the legend “Women, life, freedom”.
