"We wanted to show this is a global issue and not just localized near sources of nuclear contamination," said study researcher Caroline Clason, a University of Plymouth lecturer in physical geography.
[The good news is these nuclear contaminants likely pose no immediate threat to the environment, said Clason, whoat the European Geosciences Union conference on Wednesday . However, Clason told Live Science, the contaminants at most sites were found in significantly higher levels than what is considered safe for human ingestion.
