The world’s first 7-Eleven hospital pop-up store opens in Dallas (Via EaterDallas)
Global convenience store brand 7-Eleven picked Dallas as the site of its first-ever pop-up store within a hospital. Located inside Children’s Medical Center Dallas, this shop is for health care workers and patient families during the COVID-19 health crisis.
The store located in the hospital’s auditorium came together in less than two weeks. Shelves are stocked with grocery items like paper towels, milk, toilet paper, laundry detergent, along with snacks and meals like salads or take-and-heat pizza and wings. The store is staffed and stocked by 7-Eleven and members of the Children’s Health food service team, with safety precautions like an acrylic sneeze guard at the counter. Staff members can also use their employee badges to pay for purchases, and the brand’s mobile checkout with an app will soon be available at the shop too.
“Our health care team members are on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19 every day taking care of the children in our community while their own families are home from school, work and their daily routines,” Chris Durovich, president and CEO of Children’s Health, in a press release. “Our work with 7-Eleven allows us to provide more comfort and convenience to those within our facilities by making everyday essential items easy to locate, purchase and take home.”
