If you had to summarize the essence of the ceremony with one word it would definitely be “family”. The Nigerian couple from different tribes showed love conquers all.
The wedding between the beautiful Igbo Anahid Okonkwo and charming Esan entrepreneur Gabriel Inegbese was celebrated in Italy.
and at the fabulousEach moment was marked by the warm-heartedness of both families of the newlyweds, the enthusiasm of their friends that came from all over the world and the love and appreciation of all the guests. By observing them on their big day you would not be able to tell but their love also developed despite the father of the bride initially opposing the wedding. Their story almost recalls elements from a Shakespearian play. The bride's father, Joachin Okonkwo, is an Igbo man and mother Salma Okonkwo is Ghanaian, with Hausa lineage; while the groom is from Edo State in Nigeria. The bride's father wanted his only daughter to marry an Igbo man.
Anahid and Gabriel met each other in Lagos in July 2020 thanks to common friends and they “recognized one another” and realized they were made for each other: her, introverted and assertive, and him, extroverted and life-loving. Both share solid values- taught from their respective families- a strong sense of responsibility and the ambition to affirm themselves beyond the privileges they come from- two similar personalities that complement each other.
They saw each other more and more over time thanks to Gabriel’s several trips in Accra, where Anahid was working at PWC's office. He truly wanted to be part of her daily life and began to bond on a deep level with Anahid’s younger brother and mother,- the visionary entrepreneur and a philanthropist- who has always been a point of reference for the bride-to-be. When he started to realize that Anahid was the love of his life he proposed and did not get discouraged by her father’s rejection.
