Anything can be a purse, in Jada Holmes’s eyes.
While TikTok has introduced us to many unorthodox fashion trends, the work of Holmes, who goes byon the app, has stuck out. Some of her most famous pieces have gone viral outside of the app, such as her 3D-modeled cereal-bowl bag, in which she used real cereal and a spoon to complete the fantasy of a morning’s bowl of cereal. Held together by resin glue, it has a thin but sturdy strap and a back pocket for minimal use.
One of her most popular ensembles features a gray two-piece skirt set, paired with Air Jordan Cool Greys and a glass coffee table made to match. To riff on trends like tiny purses, she designed a hand-bedazzled ranch-bottle satchel and a Ruffles bag purse that gives a new meaning to the phrase. Holmes’s sheer creativity and bold statements have landed her collaborations with Microsoft and GOAT.
A lot of her ideas come together quickly, with a hit of inspiration and a trip to Joann fabric store. “I usually start by trying to get some fabric. It’s actually the fabric that you use to make blankets,” she mentions. That’s just the creation of the straps—she hesitates to mention the true creative process of her purse making, due to a fear of being knocked off. “A couple days ago somebody re-created the cereal purse,” she says. “I get a lot of boutiques trying to re-create and sell them.
