10 Matt Had A Boring And Bland Personality In earlier seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Matt played the role of the high school jock who falls in love with a cheerleader. This character troupe commonly used in teenage dramas might have been his downfall. During the show's duration, nothing was interesting about him. He often came off as bland and boring, making it harder to like his character. Additionally, Matt was reserved and rarely spoke out about how he felt.
7 Matt Had A Savior Complex Unlike most of the characters in The Vampire Diaries, Matt had no supernatural powers. However, that did not stop him from trying to save the day. Ultimately, all his savior complex did was make things worse for everyone and put people in danger. To his credit, he did become the town sheriff in hopes of helping people.
5 Matt Was A Cry Baby Initially, it seemed like Elena Gilbert was the one who always cried on The Vampire Diaries, but Matt takes the cake as the biggest crybaby on the show. That's not to say that he didn't have anything to cry about, he did. However, his constant crying whenever anything went wrong made him seem immature and unlikable. Bad things had happened to everyone in Mystic Falls, but not everyone was crying at the drop of a hat.
