Just before Christmas, the Daily Telegraph ran a list of the 15 coolest neighbourhoods in the UK. Lancashire didn't feature once.
What one person thinks is cool may not be the same for another. Is a place cool if it has taprooms and independent boutiques or is it all about the people who live and work there? Taking a stroll down 'the strip' as its affectionately known, the streets are lined with businesses, making a mini high street. The one of the most recent businesses to set up shop, The Artisan Deli offers a range of local Lancashire gins, as well as locally brewed craft beer.
One of them has been transformed into the ridiculously cool Southern and central American street food venue Common, run by the same guys behind Dirty Blondes and Neighbourhood Subs. With those young men making huge waves on the food and drink scene at the seaside resort. There's also a duckpin bowling alley and the converted mill is just a stunning piece of architecture. Clitheroe itself boasts cafes cocktail bars, bistros, gastropubs and independent businesses such as the Doe Bakery, Georgenzola deli or craft ale house, Corto.
