The tiny roadside cafe hidden at heart of beautiful valley that's worth stopping for
Hundreds of vehicles tootling along Grane Road in East Lancashire will pass the 'Clough Head cafe open all year' sign every day, and not stop. But they're missing out.
It is the centre of a labyrinth of public paths and trails, which lead into Haslingden Grane, the wonderful Valley of Stone , a trio of reservoirs and the secluded Troy Quarry, while it also has a decent-sized free car park.The area is a popular habitat for a variety of wildlife and birds, with the Ruins of Harley House and the ‘The Whiskey Spinners’ farmsteads a huge draw for younger explorers.
There's also ice cream, cakes and soft drinks, alongside a selection of hot beverages. Located in a prime spot for a pit-stop mid-walk, The Clough Head Visitor Centre Cafe has ample outdoor, partly-covered seating and public toilets.
