The horror movie is said to follow Petsch's unnamed character and her boyfriend, played by Teen Wolf's Froy Gutierrez, taking refuge in an Airbnb after their car breaks down in the Ohio wilderness, where they are attacked by three masked figures.

“My mother instilled the love of movies in me through the world of Hitchcock and other masters of suspense and horror. My breakthrough to Hollywood happened with the success of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4. It is only fitting that I get to return to my favorite genre with the incredibly well written trilogy of The Strangers. The characters and the storyline are all grounded in reality and offer me an endless tapestry of haunting visuals in bringing these movies alive.

With Harlin's background directing the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Warriors and Die Hard 2, fans of the cult horror movie are sure to be intrigued about The Strangers horror remake. With early plans for a new trilogy, one can hope the turnaround time is faster than the decade gaps between the originals. Audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled for further The Strangers remake updates.
