BMW Designworks and The North Face collaborate on an advanced camper design. Here's the story behind it:

has honored the GINA concept with a camper. The Futurelight is a revolutionary lightweight concept that utilizes a similar fabric to GINA, with the shell made of a flexible and radical material that stretched over a geodesic dome.and works with an advanced nanospinning process that allows, for the first time, air permeability into the membrane of a fabric. The process creates nano-sized holes for porosity and lets air move through the material for venting whilst still being perfectly waterproof.

HH: For us combining the physical and digital worlds is very important. We work extensively with VR - it is a very useful tool in the design process, with concept ideas and with future visions. It is also great for storytelling, which was the case here.NB: It is exciting to see the decade-old GINA coming back to life, a concept that was conceived at the BMW Designworks studios.

HH: For almost 25 years, Designworks has been stimulating the BMW Group, as well as select brands with ambitious visions for the future. We inspire and challenge the companies we work with to be at the forefront of their industries - in design, technology and innovation. We feel we are the architects of the future – designing systems that impact and improve the world we live in.
