Plans have been submitted to turn the eyesore into a high dependency care home
A small housing estate in a leafy Stockport village has been in the shadow of an ‘eyesore’ for more than 10 years - and fed up residents have had enough.
“That is an absolute blot on the landscape,” the 54-year-old said pointing across the street. “It’s not in keeping with anything in the area.“It’s dangerous, kids as young as 11 are going in there. I’ve chased a few down the road. Those on the street are already concerned by the amount of on street parking in the small complex. They believe that the 41 spaces planned for the 85-bed care home would worsen this problem.“It was only when the council got onto him about security that the landowner did anything. It isn’t that we don’t want it to be developed, but it needs to be done in the right way.
The couple currently have their house up for sale, but have stated it is not due to this issue but in order to downsize. The Shuttleworths are part of the influx of new residents that came to the estate back in 2010 after Morris Homes’ construction.
