Cannes2022 ‘The Silent Twins’ Producers Talk Merits Of Shooting The Un Certain Regard Entry In Poland (with filmsfrompoland & SFP_org_pl)
were on hand this weekend at the festival to talk about the benefits of shooting the project in Poland. Speaking at the American Pavillion in Cannes at a panel hosted by the Polish Film Institute and Deadline, producers Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowskaw, Ewa Puszczynska and Anita Gou talked at length about the country’s accomplished below-the-line sector and varied locations.
Gou noted that although the film was a UK tale, which is based on the true story of identical twins June and Jennifer Gibbons who refused to communicate with anyone other than each other, if they had shot entirely in the UK, they would have had limitations with the shoot from a financial perspective.
The producer added that productions can tap into the skilled Polish crews not only in the Poland, but in other countries too. “Our production designers, costume designers, makeup artists and heads of departments are really, really talented. Everyone speaks English so you can use them and take them wherever you need to shoot your film. Sometimes even Polish films need to be shot somewhere outside and we want to take our crews there.
