HBO orders The Righteous Gemstones season 3, bringing back Danny McBride’s dark comedy about televangelists for another season.
HBO has given the green light to The Righteous Gemstones season 3. Created by Danny McBride, The Righteous Gemstones follows the powerful televangelist Gemstone family led by widower Eli . Through their vast network of megachurches and dubious use of church funds, the Gemstones live a luxurious lifestyle, the future of which is a subject of debate among Eli’s petty adult children.
Now, HBO confirms that The Righteous Gemstones season 3 is officially ordered. The announcement arrives a few weeks into the comedy’s second season, the finale of which is scheduled for February 27. “After a season of literal fire and brimstone, blood, sand and rollerblading, who wouldn’t come back for more?” reads a statement from HBO exec Amy Gravitt. “The Gemstone family makes us laugh like nobody else.
