Fun + enjoyment=making the most of our lives=success.
We tend to think of success in terms of how much money we make, our accomplishments, even our productivity. Often my measure of a good day is how much I get done.
But pause for a moment and step back. At the end of our lives, do any of these versions of success mean anything? Are they actually signs of a successful life? Some of the things that do matter: connection and community, feeling a sense of purpose and meaning, feeling like we made the most of our time.I’ve been reflecting on this lately, and it comes down to choice. Choice in two particular areas: to be open to learning and growing; and to enjoy every moment we can.
Sure, not every moment is going to be a party. But I’d venture to say that most of us could enjoy ourselves more than we do. We just need fun to be on our radar and to remember that at the end of the day, it’s a choice. I wonder if we can shift to our concept of success, or at least play, with a different view. The new formula: fun + enjoyment=making the most of our lives=success.
