Here's a breakdown of the ending.
Throughout the trilogy, Elle is constantly faced with choosing between the Flynn brothers and the last film isn't any different.picks up right where we left off: Elle is faced with the super tough decision of picking where she wants to go to college. On one hand, she can go to UC Berkeley with her best friend Lee. Or she can head to Harvard to be with his brother Noah.
So, what does Elle choose in the end? Will she continue making unforgettable memories with her best friend, Lee, or keep her romance with Noah alive at Harvard? In the end, she ends up choosing... well, herself. Noah breaks up with her to release the pressure of following him to Boston, but that doesn't mean she ends up hanging with Lee. Elle makes her way to USC where she majors in video game design .
And, while Noah and Elle break up before she's off to college, it doesn't mean their relationship is over just yet. At the end of the film, there's a six-year time jump at their old high school's fundraiser. There's no telling whether they're endgame or just cross paths for a moment, but it's a bittersweet ending to the beloved rom-com franchise.
