The job market weakened last month, and that had a lot to do with what is happening in manufacturing.

The economy added 145,000 jobs in December, down from November’s gain of 256,000 , and below the 160,000 economists had forecast. Wage growth also cooled, with average hourly earnings up 2.9% versus a year earlier last month, compared with a November gain of 3.1%.
