More than 25 lives lost
An estimated 26 homeless people died in Lancashire in 2021, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The number of estimated deaths has risen 333% from six since 2013, when records began. These figures are estimates calculated by the ONS. The confirmed identified cases are lower.In Lancashire there were 16 identified deaths of homeless people in 2021. Last year an estimated 741 homeless people died in England and Wales. That's 54% higher than when records began in 2013, and equates to two people dying every day.
Birmingham had the highest number of estimated deaths of any local authority in England and Wales , followed jointly by Hull, Liverpool and Tower Hamlets with 19 each.
