The Greggs sausage roll capital of Greater Manchester has been revealed - and it's not in the city centre
It sometimes feels like you can’t walk even five minutes through Manchester city centre without coming across at least one Greggs on your travels.
But, there’s one thing in particular that separates Greggs from the rest: their sausage rolls. Perfectly-seasoned sausage meat wrapped tightly around a crisp puff pastry is the chef’s kiss when you’re hungover, want a quick snack, or just want to feed the kids. The vegan version is pretty good too.Greggs says each of its stores produce a daily average of 1,500 sausage rolls or about 545,000 in a year.
Here in Greater Manchester, Trafford is officially the sausage roll capital of our city-region. There are only 13 Greggs outlets in the borough, but when compared to the population that adds up to 30 sausage rolls per person, or enough to allow everyone in Trafford to enjoy at least one savoury snack every fortnight. Around seven million sausage rolls are produced each year in Trafford alone.
