We spoke with the experts at Michelin to find answers to the future and how it relates to the tires that it will make especially for green/EV vehicles.

For those reasons and many more, the world's leading automakers have been expanding into greener territory with their latest internal combustion engine and hybrid-powered vehicle effortsnot to mention rolling out an ever-growing portfolio of electric-only models.
"The less rubber in the tire, the lower your rolling resistance but also the shorter the tire's wear life," Shepherd said."The real challengeis to do that and still get the other performance, especially wear." Making tires more efficient for all vehicles seems like an obvious step, but it's one that until now hasn't been a big driving force for vehicle owners. This change toward focusing on efficiency and balancing that with other considerations could prove fruitful not only in reducing vehicle emissions but also in helping extend EV range.Whether they're electric or not, cars have been making leaps and bounds in connectivity for the past two decades.
"Michelin has the target of being 40 percent recycled and sustainable by 2030 and 100 percent by 2050," Shepherd said. Some examples include using biomass to produce some of the raw materials of tires through Michelin's BioButterfly project, or improving the recyclability of styrene and PET plastics through industry partnerships.
