The upcoming Superman movie in the new DC Universe will reportedly have James Gunn not just write the film but also direct it after several rumors.

James Gunn is reportedly pulling double duty on DC Universe's Superman: Legacy movie, as he isn't only writing it but also directing it. The DCEU is getting closer to its end with only a few movies left that will be rolling out in 2023. However, a new DC Universe is on its way from DC Studios, with Gunn and Peter Safran serving as co-CEOs.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Over the last few months, there have been reports that Gunn would seemingly also direct the DC Universe installment. Nothing had been set into stone regarding Gunn's Superman: Legacy directing possibilities. It appears that Gunn is indeed pulling double duty on Superman: Legacy. In a recent interview with Comic Pop DC Comics scribe and DC Universe architect Tom King seemingly let it slip that Gunn is actually directing the new Superman reboot. Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios have yet to make any statements on this story.
Gunn has also made it clear that this young version of Clark Kent will already have relationships with some major DC characters. The best way to describe it is the equivalent of what The Batman did with Robert Pattinson's character. He isn't completely new as a crime fighter, but he still has ways to go before becoming the hero everyone knows from the comics.
With a 2025 release date, Superman: Legacy will likely begin production at the end of 2023 or the start of 2024. Casting will probably be revealed towards the back half of the year, if not at San Diego Comic-Con. If Gunn is truly locked into both write and direct Superman: Legacy, it will hopefully not be long until the new Man of Steel is revealed.Source: Comic Pop/YouTube
