It has big 'Christmas Carol' energy.

, but objectively speaking, the holidays are the best season in the parks. Take one pink fairytale castle and drape it with more decorations than any one building can reasonably hold; add Mickey wreaths hanging over Main Street and holiday music in the air; top it off with an estimated 70 jillion lights on “it’s a small world”; add in a nightly dash of magical, gingerbread-scented snowfall during the fireworks show.

With all of that happening on one side of the plaza, it would be hard for anything on the other side to draw that same level of interest, but Disney California Adventure’s Festival of the Holidays manages to pull it off. It’s a totally separate celebration from the holiday festivities in Disneyland Park, but they are equally joyous — and, if I’m being honest, a lot more delicious.DCA’s Festival of the Holidays celebrates Christmas, yes, but also Hanukkah, Diwali, Three Kings Day and Kwanzaa.

Similar to other DCA food festivals, Festival of the Holidays has themed booths with unique food offerings at each. At A Twist on Tradition, I tried — and loved — the lox and everything bagel “nachos,” which are bagel chips topped with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers. At Brews and Bites, I couldn’t resist the Impossible Chorizo Queso FundidoLox and everything bagel nachos from A Twist on Tradition.
