The beach named best in Britain worth the drive from Greater Manchester this summer
A beach less than a three hour drive away from Greater Manchester has been named one of the best in Britain, according to a new study. Abersoch Beach, located in the south-eastern corner of the Llyn Peninsula, North Wales, came out on top in a list published by the AA.
Seilebost Beach in Scotland ranked second, while Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire came in third. Abersoch also beat other top-rated beaches, including Bamburgh in Northumberland which is regularly named one of the best coastal spots in the country.The AA said: “A picturesque Welsh location, top place goes to this sandy beach which is dog friendly and also manned by lifeguards.
Nearby beaches Hell’s Mouth and Porth Ceiriard are great for surfing, if that’s more your thing. For those who prefer to stay dry, you can book boat trips across to the St Tudwals Islands - one of which is owned by Bear Grylls.
