Everton manager Frank Lampard pulled no punches as he sent a message to his second-string stars after their ‘poor’ Carabao Cup exit.on Tuesday night, suffering a 4-1 defeat away from home.
And after his side had crashed out of the competition, Lampard gave a brutal assessment of his side’s performance.“It was poor,” he told talkSPORT. “A lot of changes, but the reality of my job is you want to win every game you play.“Some players aren’t getting as many minutes and they’re not happy with that and want to knock on your door. Some train well and deserve a chance.
“I learned a lot from that performance, it’s clear, I don’t think I need to go through the goals and the manor of the chances we don’t take.” Lampard was particularly critical of the players who don’t normally start and were given an opportunity, apparently after knocking on his door and demanding more minutes – only to disappoint.🔵 “He’s absolutely right to feel let down. That team should be doing a lot better.”
