The lengthy heat wave is putting a strain on the electrical grid in Texas as people crank their air-conditioners.
DALLAS, Texas — Texas residents are trying to cope as a heat wave continues to scorch the state, sending highs into the triple digits and setting records in several cities.Corpus Christi had a heat index of 125 degrees on Saturday. The heat index is a combination of temperature and humidity, meaning conditions can feel much hotter than the actual temperature.
Rio Grande Village in Big Bend National Park on Tuesday had the highest temperature in the nation this year, reaching 118 degrees, according to the Weather Channel.of chocolate chip cookies baking inside a vehicle. But no immediate relief is expected, with highs again expected to reach triple digits over the weekend.
