News reporters will again not be allowed on the Texas Senate chamber floor in the upcoming legislative session. The move was first implemented in 2021 as a COVID-19 precaution, but officials say the measure will continue this year.

The secretary of the Texas Senate said Friday that reporters would be barred from the chamber floor, continuing a restriction on the press that began ostensibly as a COVID-19 measure in 2021., The Texas Tribune’s daily newsletter that keeps readers up to speed on the most essential Texas news.
