Texas Rangers’ pitcher Max Scherzer was removed from the fourth inning of the World Series with an injury.
when a hit ball bounced off his right pitching elbow. It is unknown if that play caused his back to tighten.Scherzer had been pitching well before his removal, giving up zero runs on two hits with one strikeout in three innings of work.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy had said before Monday’s game that he would no longer describe Scherzer as rehabbing from injury and that the pitcher would get a longer leash during the game. This was not the first injury Scherzer has suffered this season as the pitcher had just come back from injury during the American League Championship Series after previously being in danger of missing the remainder of the season with a teres major muscle in his right shoulder.on Sept.12 and wouldn’t return to the mound till game 3 of the ALCS against the Houston Astros. Scherzer struggled against the Astros giving up a 9.45 ERA in 6.2 innings of work.
