“It’s got such a deep, rich heritage, you can’t hardly mess it up,” Rogers said. “To wind up 100 years later, it’s a solid event.” The Texas Open pioneered the PGA Tour trend of swinging through southern and western states during the winter months after events were initially concentrated in cooler parts of the country.
Since moving to San Antonio in 1985, Rogers has been a board member of Golf San Antonio, the Director of Golf at the San Antonio Country Club and a volunteer assistant coach at UTSA, along with other roles in the golf world.
