Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian completes staff with two hires
Eric Gay/Associated PressHe’d become the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receivers coach in February 2022 following four seasons in multiple roles with the Chicago Bears. Jacksonville has a franchise quarterback and several electrifying playmakers just entering their athletic primes. It beat San Diego in the wild card round and pushed Kansas City in a one-score divisional round loss. It is a franchise on the rise.
Jackson, 47, is the Longhorns’ third receivers coach in as many years. He was preceded by Brennan Marion, who left to become UNLV’s offensive coordinator after one season at Texas, and Andre Coleman , who was not retained following his second season with the program. A Californian who played with current Texas assistant Jeff Banks at Washington State, Jackson bounced around the NFL, AFL and CFL before transitioning into coaching. He worked as an assistant at the Chicago Bears' 2018 training camp and spent that fall as the receivers coach for Liberty High School in Peoria, Ariz..
