Preston Paine was raised in the Park Cities and lives in Fort Worth.
The first thing we hear from him, while other contestants ooh and ahh over the beautiful scenery, is that he’s been to Italy three times. “I spent some time on private yachts for a while,” Paine tells them.
But once he starts cooking, the other contestants seem to take his abilities seriously. Besides, there’s already a villain by the end of episode one in Brooklyn, N.Y., chef Corey Becker.Paine says he knew Becker was a talented chef from Episode One. “After that, I put the target on his back; I knew he was going to be the one to beat,” Paine tellsBecker is one of two first-episode winners. The other is Houston chef Trenica Johnson, the only other Texas contestant besides Paine.
“It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities,” Paine says. “She’s the biggest thing in Food Network right now, and having the chance to cook for her and Chef Gabe — I couldn’t have thought of two better people.” In a sneak peek of a future episode, Paine throws some shade at an unknown competitor. “I don’t think she’s a talented cook. I’m not going to call her a chef,” he says. Yikes, who’s he talking about?premiere, Paine is already on a plane to film another food show.
Ciao House premiered April 16, 2023 on Food Network. The show runs for eight episodes and airs Sundays at 8 p.m.
