The Texans claimed former Chiefs defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth off waivers on Wednesday and released defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour to make room on the roster for the acquisition. Dwumfour did not record a sack or tackle for loss in seven games this season.

Stallworth, 27, has played in six games for the Chiefs. He’s logged 53 defensive snaps and recorded four tackles. Stallworth, who was released on Tuesday, was playing on a one-year, $1.035 million contract. The Texans entered the week with $2.044 million in available cap space, according to Over The Cap.

The 6-2, 305-pound Stallworth signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina in 2018. He’s played in 56 games with the Saints, Colts and Chiefs, recorded 4½ career sacks and totaled six tackles for loss. Stallworth joins Maliek Collins, Roy Lopez, Thomas Booker and Kurt Hinish as the fifth defensive tackle on the team’s 53-man roster.
