House impeachment probe releases interview transcripts from two key players, former U.S. special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker, and Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.

In this Tuesday, July 10, 2018, file photo, President Donald Trump is joined by Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union. The three House committees carrying out an impeachment probe into President Donald Trump on Tuesday released two highly anticipated transcripts of interviews with administration officials who were at the center of an alleged shadow foreign policy towards Ukraine.

In another section of his testimony, Sondland said it was clear that the Trump administration was conditioning a White House visit for the Ukrainian president on Ukraine doing what Trump and Rudy Giuliani wanted, which was to open investigations into the Bidens and into the 2016 conspiracy theory. Volker worked closely with Giuliani over several months, and was instrumental in setting up Trump's July 25 call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, in which Trump asked Zelensky for "a favor."
