SCOTLAND’S new green freeports will help combat depopulation in rural areas, the Prime Minister claimed.
Hailing the move, Mr Sunak said he believes the freeports will help boost rural areas and tackle depopulation by encouraging young people to stay in their local towns rather than heading to bigger cities for work. “That’s why, if we can bring the investment and the jobs and the opportunity to them, that’s what levelling up should be about, and that’s what freeports do.
