Hurricane Jova will produce strong rip currents north of Carlsbad and possibly spark thunderstorms in the mountains
San Diego County will experience another brief heat wave this weekend with temperatures rising into the low 80s in some coastal cities and near 100 across inland valleys and foothills, the National Weather Service said.
The heat will arise from a high-pressure system that’s moving into northern Mexico, where it will produce mostly fair skies in neighboring Southern California. Forecasters said that local beaches will be in the mid-to-upper 70s Friday through Sunday. But temperatures will get into the 80s in areas a couple of miles east of the coast.
The temperature is expected to be 85 at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday when the San Diego State University football team plays UCLA at Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley.Ramona will be far warmer, with the temperature reaching 96 on Friday, 98 on Saturday and 96 on Sunday.Hurricane Jova, which is curling off to the west-northwest below Baja California, is not expected to significantly affect San Diego’s weather. But it could produce strong rip currents north of Carlsbad starting on Saturday.
