Akcel Arriaza, 19, has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed his mother to death after an argument outside their home in Brentwood, New York.
"Responding officers found a woman stabbed to death inside a car. Her son surrendered himself to police as they responded," Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer, of the Suffolk County Police Department, told News 12 Long Island.
Police said he was held overnight by police and is set to be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.that the Arriaza did not disclose a motive for the alleged murder to officers during his arrest. Heidi added that in cases of parricide, she advises that a mental health professional examines the offender to determine the underlying circumstances of the case.
