A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with a West Dallas shooting earlier this month that killedAureanna Hernandez was fatally shot April 11 in the Ledbetter area of West Dallas and another man was wounded. She was known as "Na Na" to family and friends and has a 2-year-old son.
Johnny Sincere Garcia, IV was booked into Dallas County Jail Wednesday, and faces one charge of murder. His bail is set to $1 million. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Dallas police officers responded to the 2600 block of Ingersoll Street, near Hiawatha Street, about 1 a.m. According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Garcia and three other suspects drove by Hernandez and a witness, who were standing by a car on Ingersoll Street.
Police said in the affidavit the car belongs to a person Garcia has made threats against in the past, including threats against his family. The car Garcia rode in stopped further down the street before Garcia and two other suspects got out. Garcia and one other suspect walked down the street and fired automatic rifles, police said in the affidavit, striking Hernandez multiple times. Hernandez was taken to the hospital where she died. A man was also shot and was later pronounced stable at the hospital. The affidavit did not specify if the wounded man was the witness who was with Hernandez.
