UPDATE: Police say a teenager accused of shooting and killing his cousin at an extended stay motel in north Phoenix has been taken into custody.
Once at the scene, police found a man on the ground who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. The man was identified as 18-year-old Elijah Johnson.
"Detectives responded to investigate the shooting and to speak with witnesses," Sgt. Phil Krynsky said. "Currently, no suspects have been detained."The shooting happened on April 17 near Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue. One man was shot and taken to a hospital. The suspect fled the motel before police arrived. Police have not released any further details.
