Artificial intelligence generative technology is rapidly growing, and so is concern about where it could go.
The so-called “Godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton left Google early May to warn people of the dangers of AI and its existential risks in the future.
Kristian Hammond, professor of computer science at Northwestern University, said there are present problems we should address instead of focusing on existential risks, such as addressing bias, prejudice and addictiveness in systems. “Right now, there are a whole bunch of harms we could actually address immediately, but we don’t,” Hammond said.
