Today is the deadline for businesses earning income from farming and fishing to file and pay their taxes if they have not already made their estimated tax payments.

The deadline will apply for farmers and fishers who have not paid their 2022 estimated taxes by Jan. 17. Otherwise, farmers and fishers who have paid their estimated tax payments by Jan. 17 can file by the regular tax deadline, which for this year is April 18, according to the Internal Revenue Service. For any fishers and farmers who are living in disaster areas, they have until Oct. 16 to file and pay their 2022 taxes.

The extension to October for disaster area taxpayers is automatic, meaning no additional action is needed to be taken by taxpayers to have this extra time to file. The IRS has two different ways to pay one's taxes from last year; the first one, Online Account, allows taxpayers to make same-day payments from a checking or savings account. The other form of payment, Direct Pay, allows taxpayers to schedule a payment from their bank account for their tax deadline.

All of the forms farmers and fishers will need to file and pay their taxes are available online on the IRS's website.
