It’s also an insult to the majority of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers to lower the corporate income tax rate by more than half (5%) when the state’s sales tax rate is still 6%.
I never thought I would be writing a letter to the editors calling for tax reform at both the federal and state levels. However, over the past 50+ years the rich have gotten superrich, more of the poor are living in abject poverty and the middle class is fast disappearing.
During President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Administration in the 1950s, the top tax rate was over 90% on all income, and several of the federal budgets were balanced and there was only a small national debt. The top tax rate for corporations then was 52%.
It’s past time for our elected representatives and senators from both parties to take “the bull by the horns” and do what’s right for the majority of their constituents, or “to hit the road.” Overspending for never-ending wars and national defense that just benefits large corporations is out of control! Yes, federal tax reform is desperately needed now!
It’s also an insult to the majority of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers to lower the corporate income tax rate by more than half when the state’s sales tax rate is still 6%, and the tax on gas is over sixty cents a gallon. In addition, the State’s personal income tax rate of 3.07% is the same for the working class as it is for the superrich.

Maryland judges question jurisdiction of digital ad tax caseAttorneys have debated the proper jurisdiction for settling a legal challenge to the first-in-the-nation tax on digital advertising during arguments before Maryland’s highest court. Meanwhile, an attorney for the state of Maryland appeared to surprise judges on the state's Supreme Court when she said during Friday's arguments that the state has already collected some taxes from companies that voluntarily submitted revenues to the state under the tax aimed at Big Tech. A lower Maryland court ruled last year that the tax on digital advertising violates the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act, which prohibits discrimination against electronic commerce.
