Tatis falls to 0-for-10 in Cactus League play; says the important thing is that he feels good at plate after essentially not playing for 17 months

No, Fernando Tatis Jr. did not get a hit. He remains without one in 10 at-bats this spring, which is nothing more than something to keep an eye on. He has not played in quite some time, so a little jumpiness and some timing being off is not unusual.

“Yeah, I mean I got like at-bats,” Tatis said, laughing as he did. “What’s going on? Yeah, nothing to worry about. … I feel like I’m swinging at the right pitches, and that’s what I’m focusing on right now.”The real surprise regarding Tatis this spring had been the receptions he received in other teams’ ballparks. He was hardly been booed in his first two road games. But Dodgers fans could be counted on.“Oh, yeah, all the time,” he said when asked if it felt good to hear the unfriendly welcome.

Tatis has earned such a response, having his .302 with nine home runs in 86 career at-bats at Dodger Stadium. Further, he knows what is in store for him from fans in visiting parks when he returns from a PED suspension.said in JanuaryTatis missed all of last season — the first four months while recovering from wrist surgery and the final two months aftergame. That gives him plenty of time to get ready.

He has played in four games this spring. He went 0-for-2 with a walk in each of the first two and has gone 0-for-3 in each of the past two. “Seeing the right pitches,” he said. “Probably a little bit late with the fastball. But I’m recognizing the good pitches and swinging at the pitches I want to swing . … I feel great. My body is bouncing back real good. My wrist and my shoulder, I don’t feel nothing, thank God. I’m just grateful that my body’s reacting so far.”
